The 9 Service Languages | Intensive Session Wrap Up Thoughts

On Sunday, I wrapped up my first small group FULL INTENSIVE workshop that spanned 6+ hours over the course of 2 days. Anyone who has sat through my Intro class knows, The 9 Service Languages is a fucking BIG IDEA! When I first launched my class, I naively believed it could be tackled in a typical 90-minute or 2-hour session. I quickly learned that was impossible and that few platforms (cons, orgs, mtgs) had the ability to hold space for me and attendees to get DEEP in the weeds of WIITWD as it relates to Service. I am PROFOUNDLY HONORED that @S-O-C—the Service Oriented Conference—reached out to me earlier this year to be a part of their inaugural Intensive Program. They were the perfect partner with the perfect target audience for an Intensive of The 9 Service Languages of Authority Transfer Relationships/Dynamics. The session allowed me to work with a small group as we got our hands dirty, dissecting where, when, how, and why we do Service and considered ways to adjust, tweak, evol...

CLASS WRITE UP | The Journey from Ally to Advocate to Warrior for Marginalized Communities within Kink & Leather

Title | The Journey from Ally to Advocate to Warrior for Marginalized Communities within Kink & Leather

Format | Lecture-Based Presentation with Slide Deck

Duration | 90-120m (w/Q&A)

Target Audience | Beginner-Intermediate-Advanced
  • Individuals in the Lifestyle
  • Event Organizers
  • Conference Committees
  • Non-Profit/Organizational Boards
  • Whether you are passionate about Social Justice and Equity for the BIPOC Community, Women's Rights, LGBTQA++ Rights, Transgender Rights, Mental Health, Neurodiversity, Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Body Positivity, Ageism to name a few...this class is for YOU.
Description | Ask a member of any Marginalized Community to name an Ally—either an individual or organization—within The Lifestyle, and their likely answer will simply be a blank stare.  The sad truth is that most who consider themselves Allies do not understand (nor been taught) the fundamentals of The Journey to Allyship, let alone the path to Advocacy or the steps needed to become a Warrior.  Hint: A "We/I Stand with the X Community" letter posted on your website, social media profile, newsletter, or blog impresses no one.

As members of Kink & Leather—a Community already on the fringes of mainstream society—we MUST EACH do better to support and CHAMPION one another, rather than the status quo focus on our own self-identifiers.  This class offers a practical roadmap to assess you/your organization's current efforts to engage, support, as well as empower Marginalized Groups within Leather & Kink and to discover the path forward on the Journey from Ally to Advocate to Warrior.  Note:  This is not a kumbaya or guilt-inducing session, nor is it meant to unpack or any ~ism or ~phobia.

Note | This class is a part of DominaKat's passion project—The Ally~Advocate~Warrior Project—which also offers educational programming, organizational assessment and consulting services, as well as survey/data analysis.
